Glimpse of God

GlimpseofGod Can you remember the last time you caught a glimpse of God? Was it this morning? Last week? Two years ago?

Most likely it didn’t come through a flash of lightning or a startling vision. More likely you were at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in your hand. Or out on the back porch in a lawn chair. Or on your knees in the quiet of your bedroom. You might have been reading the Bible, meditating on some portion of Scripture or praying. Then again, you might have been in the middle of something as mundane as walking the dog, feeding the baby or driving to work, when suddenly –unexpectedly — you caught a glimpse of God. You saw Him in a new way, caught a fresh insight into His love…His greatness…His holiness. And what you saw touched your heart and made a difference in your life.

Did you know that God cherishes those moments as much as you do? He delights to be found by his seeking children. He loves to reveal Himself to those who are earnestly longing to know Him.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart… Jeremiah 29:11-13
